Disabling Network Adapter Power Saving

If your report flagged Network adapter power saving, Windows is allowed to power down parts of your network card when it looks idle — a power-saving feature that can introduce brief delays or dropped packets right as your game needs a steady stream of updates from the server.

Turn it off

1. Press Win + R, type devmgmt.msc, press Enter to open Device Manager.
2. Expand Network adapters.
3. Right-click your actual network adapter (the one you're using — usually named after the chipset, e.g. "Intel Ethernet Controller" or a specific Wi-Fi adapter name, not a virtual/VPN adapter).
4. Select Properties > Power Management tab.
5. Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
6. Click OK.

If you're on Wi-Fi

The same steps apply, but also check your router/access point isn't using an aggressive power-saving mode on its end — that's a separate setting on the router itself, not something Windows controls.

After changing it

This takes effect immediately, no restart required. Re-run a LagInspector diagnostic to confirm the setting change and see if jitter/dropped packets improved.
